Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026. Please read these terms carefully before making a booking with Assembly Collective. By proceeding with a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By booking or using any services provided by Assembly Collective ("we", "us", "our") at 506 Lygon Street, Brunswick East, you ("the Client") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service in their entirety. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between the Client and Assembly Collective. If you do not agree to any part of these terms, you must not proceed with a booking.
2. Booking & Confirmation
A booking is only confirmed upon receipt of a signed booking agreement and the required deposit (50% of the total event cost). The remaining balance is due no later than 7 days prior to the event date. Assembly Collective reserves the right to cancel an unconfirmed booking at any time. All bookings are subject to availability and are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.
3. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the event date will receive a full refund of the deposit, less a $150 administration fee. Cancellations made between 14 and 30 days prior to the event will forfeit 50% of the deposit. Cancellations made within 14 days of the event will forfeit the entire deposit. No refunds will be issued for cancellations on the day of the event. In the event Assembly Collective is unable to provide the venue due to circumstances beyond our control (force majeure), clients will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
4. Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
Assembly Collective is committed to the responsible service of alcohol at all events held on our premises. The following conditions apply to all events where alcohol is served:
• All alcohol served at events must comply with applicable Victorian liquor licensing laws. • The Client is responsible for ensuring their guests do not consume alcohol to the point of intoxication. • Assembly Collective staff or appointed security reserves the right to refuse service of alcohol to any guest who appears intoxicated, disorderly, or who is under the legal drinking age of 18 years. • No alcohol may be brought onto the premises by guests without prior written approval from Assembly Collective. • The Client must ensure that adequate non-alcoholic beverages and food are available throughout the event. • The Client accepts full responsibility for the conduct of all guests in relation to alcohol consumption and acknowledges that Assembly Collective may engage security personnel at the Client's expense if required. • Assembly Collective reserves the right to terminate an event early if alcohol-related incidents occur and pose a risk to the safety of guests, staff, or the premises.
5. Venue Care & Damage Policy
The Client agrees to treat the Assembly Collective venue and all its contents with respect and care. The Client is financially liable for any damage caused to the venue, fixtures, fittings, furniture, equipment, or any other property belonging to Assembly Collective during the event or setup/packdown period.
• A bond/security deposit may be required at the time of booking and will be refunded within 7 business days following the event, provided no damage has occurred. • Damage costs will be assessed at replacement or repair value at Assembly Collective's sole discretion. • The Client is responsible for the behaviour of all guests, vendors, contractors, and any other parties they invite onto the premises. • Assembly Collective reserves the right to terminate an event without refund if guests are causing damage or behaving in a manner that risks harm to the premises or others. • The Client must ensure the venue is left in a clean and orderly condition at the agreed end time, unless a professional cleaning service has been engaged through Assembly Collective.
6. Capacity & Safety Compliance
The maximum capacity of the main event space is 120 guests. This limit must not be exceeded at any time for fire safety and regulatory compliance reasons. The Client is responsible for managing guest attendance and ensuring the capacity limit is not breached. Assembly Collective reserves the right to refuse entry to additional guests once maximum capacity has been reached. The upstairs room, if booked, has a separate capacity limit which will be advised at the time of booking.
7. Noise & Neighbour Considerations
Events must comply with local council noise regulations. Amplified music and entertainment must cease by the agreed event end time. The Client is responsible for ensuring their guests, DJ, band, or other entertainment providers comply with noise restrictions. Assembly Collective will not be held liable for any penalties, fines, or damages arising from the Client's failure to observe noise requirements. We kindly ask all guests to be considerate of our neighbours when departing the venue.
8. Vendors & Third-Party Services
Any vendors, contractors, or third-party service providers engaged by the Client must be approved by Assembly Collective prior to the event. Approved vendors must provide current public liability insurance documentation. Assembly Collective is not responsible for the quality, safety, or conduct of any external vendors. The Client assumes full responsibility for the actions of their vendors whilst on Assembly Collective's premises. If vendors or contractors cause damage to the venue, the Client remains liable.
9. Photography & Media
By hosting an event at Assembly Collective, you grant us permission to photograph and/or video the event for use in our portfolio, website, social media, and marketing materials, unless you expressly advise us in writing prior to the event that you do not consent to this. Assembly Collective will handle all media with discretion and will not identify guests without their consent.
10. Health, Safety & Emergency Procedures
The Client agrees to familiarise themselves and their guests with the venue's emergency evacuation procedures, which will be provided at the time of venue induction. Assembly Collective complies with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation. The Client must notify Assembly Collective of any special requirements, including mobility access needs or medical considerations, prior to the event. Assembly Collective staff are trained in first aid and emergency response procedures.
11. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited at Assembly Collective events:
• Use, possession, or distribution of illegal drugs or substances • Smoking or vaping anywhere on the premises (including outdoors unless a designated area is provided) • Weapons of any kind • Pyrotechnics, open flames, or fireworks without prior written approval • Any activities that endanger the safety of guests or staff • Any unlawful activity
Assembly Collective reserves the right to immediately terminate any event where prohibited activities are occurring, without refund.
12. Liability Limitation
Assembly Collective takes all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and security of guests and their property. However, we are not liable for the loss, theft, or damage to personal property belonging to guests, vendors, or the Client. We strongly advise all event organisers to arrange appropriate event insurance. Assembly Collective's total liability shall not exceed the total amount paid for the booking in question.
13. Force Majeure
Assembly Collective shall not be held liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, government actions, pandemics, fire, flooding, or infrastructure failure. In such cases, the Client will be offered a full credit or alternative date at no additional cost.
14. Privacy
Assembly Collective collects personal information solely for the purpose of processing bookings and communicating with clients. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties except as required to facilitate your event (e.g., sharing details with approved vendors). By booking with us, you consent to our collection and use of your personal information in accordance with applicable privacy legislation.
15. Amendments to Terms
Assembly Collective reserves the right to amend these Terms of Service at any time. Updated terms will be published on our website and will apply to all new bookings made after the publication date. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any revised terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Assembly Collective's services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
